Caprini Bovini and Cervini

Caprini is a general term for a group of civilised beast men. They actually come in three distinct sorts Caprini (goat like) Bovini (antelope like) and Cervini (deer like) The caprini bovini and cervini tend to live until their mid 60’s though some cervini have much longer lives living into their late 90’s.

What do they look like?

On the whole they are the most human like of all the beast kind species and the only which forms part of the civilised world.. They are quite humanoid in their looks but they evolved from goat, antelope and deer. They vary massively in size from the smallest at about 3’ to the largest at over 9’ though on average they are between 5 and 6’.

Caprini have goatlike features longer ears and serrated horns curly or straight the males tend to have facial hair. In colouration they usually have pale or light brown skin and may be lightly furred. They can sometimes be darker in colour or pie bald. Caprini are normally possessed of a small tail.

Bovini tend to be the prettier and more delicately featured and slimly built. They have a variety of markings usually tans brown and white with a little black. They can have very long or short horns, pointier more upright ears and a tail. The males rarely sport facial hair but both genders commonly have long head hair.

Cervini are the biggest built of the three they are usually taller and especially the males are well muscled and physically imposing. They have forked antlers not horns, usually covered in a soft velvet. They are darker in colour than most caprini or bovini the older cervini tend towards greyish colouration, younger ones paler and with a faun like spotty pattern which they lose after late teenage.

How do they dress?

Caprini and bovini tend to follow fashion and dress appropriately for their chosen vocation their clothing varies greatly depending on where they live in the world. In the cities the upper classes will tend to dress in the finest of everything bovini particularly are regarded as trend setters and are usually clad in the most fashionable attire available. Their clothing varies a little from human or elven dress to make the most of their features. They have differently shaped feet than humans or they have hooves but usually they will wear some kind of footwear. Their horns tend to prohibit the wearing of hats though head scarves and horn decoration comes in and out of fashion. In hotter climates head gear is essential.

Cervini are more practical they wear whatever clothing best suits their environment usually heavier trousers or robes, a lot of the cervini live in remote communities in the hartlandt where in warm weather they are happy to wear very little, the women will wear basic light leather or linen tops and shorter skirts or basic hose. The males will often wear just hose for modesty and freedom of movement and a bracer for archery. Winter clothing consists of more layers of linen clothing and wool as well as furs and leathers which are common. They have little adornment but favour a dwarves style with gold torcs and penanulars. They like swirled and coiled designs.

What is caprini society?

Caprini cities are considered the most refined and cultured in the world with beautiful architecture, and art as well as a wealth of shops and markets. Perfect for socialites from all cultures. And all supported by hardworking and enterprising individuals. The caprini land of Domaigne is run by an elected council who oversee the running of the country. They have no royal family, but there is a class structure wealthy merchants, very successful business owners and scholars are considered the upper classes. Middle class are small business owners and those born to more respected families and mercantile professions, working class who work for others but have little personal wealth and the under city who are the rogues and vagabonds who live on the misfortune or others or have simply been most misfortunate themselves.

Caprini in Panagaia and neo Archon's live in smaller subsistence or  mixed culture communities where they adapt easily and are a welcome and accepted part of society by most other cultures. They are often nomadic or tribal adapting to their surroundings with ease.

The cervini tend to live in many smaller communities some of which travel around without a permanent home. The cervini do have several larger villages however but unlike in Domaigne they communities are led by village elders advised by a select group of respect community members. This is probably the most transparent society as the communities are so small they can share information and make decisions in a very fair and open way. The leaders are always trusted and respected the cervini are fiercely loyal to one another and if needs must they will happily band together with neighbouring communities.

Where do they live?

The cervini live in small villages with houses of wooden construction with little or no stonework. They spend a lot of time outside and so their simple homes are more than adequate for them the round house and long house style buildings are popular as are turf roofs and thatch. They live predominantly in Hartlandt are by far the predominant race here as they are territorial by nature. But cervini communities can be found as far as Eufrasia. Travelling cervini can be found almost everywhere and it is not uncommon that they will be found in Domaigne Rodinia and bridge city.

Caprini are prolific they mostly dwell in Domaigne and the caprini capitol Domaigne di Caprini and Domaigne second city Medici. Architecturally caprini style is that of beautifully made tall stone buildings decorated with fresco’s and marble, colonnades and open plaza’s and gardens. Caprini do occasionally move to other countries mostly preferring larger cities and towns. Some caprini enjoy the company of elves and have such settled in elven cities where their presence is welcomed not just tolerated as with other species.

Bovini originally hail from Panagaia where the majority of them still live in tribal communities though nowadays their adventurous spirit has taken them to almost every corner of the world They will hardly ever settle in colder climates (like crowefields) though may visit from time to time they do not like colder wether so tend to go in summer. Many Bovini are residents of large cities like Domaigne and bridge where they enjoy the socialising and opportunities available to them.

What do they do?

Caprini are intelligent and well educated and as such prefer to be thinkers rather than doers. They have developed an efficient economy and many of them are amongst the greatest artists, mage's and philosophers in the world. Where needed they will work hard but they prefer more gentile professions and tend to find that its much better to employ someone else to do the hard work for you.

Bovini are quite good for that hard work they are a little flighty but will work hard They aren’t superb craftsmen like caprini master craftsmen but they work well given instruction. In Panagaia where they often hail from they are good farmers and herders they also make basic materials and crafts like glass beads and natural dyes. Bovini are competent at desert survival and make good hunters. Because of their often beauteous nature they often end up in cities in entertainment or fashion but some easily end up in dirty back street bars or even as courtesans, they aren’t as bright as their caprini counterparts mostly due to less education and often end up on the wrong side of the law. They care usually seen as jack of all trades. They aren't much for weapon smithing in general.

Cervini are self sufficient on the whole farming and cottage industries keeping their communities alive and thriving. They mine a little though they will happily trade with Dwarves the only race they truly enjoy the company of.  They are excellent hunters and trappers probably the most proficient of all races. Tanning and skinning is a big part of their lives and which they use for trade. They are also good woodworkers, bowyer's and fletchers. Cervini are the only of the three who take some pleasure in water they are fair basic boat builders good swimmers and fair fishermen.

What weapons do they use?

Most Caprini are not bothered about fighting at all some will take up fencing as a sport. If they would have to take up arms a fine sword would usually be the weapon of choice but there are not many weapon smiths of caprini race, those that do take up that role often learn from elven or human smiths. They tend to make more decorative and less practical weapons favouring elegant rapiers and daggers.

Domaigne guards are often equipped with cheaper rapiers and crossbows. Caprini do not favour armour.

Bovini in Panagaia arm themselves with spears and javelin for hunting which also double for weapons of war alongside clubs and throwing knives. In the regions nearer neo Archon curved blades are favoured. In the cities Bovini will adapt to whatever is most at hand or the best they can afford. Adaptable bovini are happy to wear leather chain or plate armour adapted to their body shapes if needed.

Cervini hunt and fight with bows and spears. Axes and machete’s are popular as they double as a tool and a weapon. Cervini are most commonly wearing leather armour if any but so sometimes wear chain. If in a city like Bridge they will occasionally wear custom plate.

What classes do they favour?

Caprini are good mage's as they possess the intellect and education. They may become clerics often the path of the second son. They are usually poor fighters and never barbarians.

Bovini are very adaptable they are best suited to rogue, they also make good druids and warriors though the only class they do not fair well in is mage as they rarely possess the patience for it.

Cervini are exemplary warriors and vicious barbarians they also favour the druidic path. They make poor rogues due to their size and average mage's.
