Chanting over the physrep (no bigger than a dagger) and pouring the cold water over the blade gives it the power of a mighty Cold imbued weapon for its first strike. The user of the weapon with this charm must continuously chant while the power resides and on the strike and expulsion of the energy into the target must intone a suitable curse for its first strike. For example on the strike you could say “....My power strikes you with icey death”.

Hold Elemental

A mesmerising spell that will hold lesser elemental creatures at a distance from the caster. This spell works on all elementals dependent upon the skill of the mage. The mage must concentrate on the elemental and not perform any other actions whilst the spell is active otherwise the magic is broken and the elemental being held will walk free. The mage may try to hold more than one elemental at a time but they may or may not succeed depending on the type of elemental and the mages efforts. The spell takes moments to cast and is performed with verbal and material components of the mages choice.

Material component- A focus (Wizards staff for example) (Major spell)

(In order for the spell to work you must make it clear to the elemental who you are trying to hold via in character communication (verbal/body language/gestures/use of a material component etc) and holding the focus up high in both hands. The Elemental will react accordingly; the result depends on the effort made by the player, the circumstances of the encounter and the reaction of the crew)

Summon lesser elemental

Drawing upon the powers of the various elemental domains, a minor elemental creature may be summoned to answer three questions asked by the caster or complete one simple task.

With strong commands an Elementalist can, with luck, command a single elemental to answer truthfully three questions. The Elemental must answer truthfully but may leave out important details if it can or twist the words into riddle form. Likewise, a task asked of an elemental must be clearly stated for any loop holes may be exploited to the casters cost.

Material component- A fire or a pool of water or a standing stone or into the strong wind with ritual (Major spell)

Setting up your Magic circle around you focal element (I.e. Standing stone/open fire/pool of water/etc) with time chanting and concentration a mage can draw up the element appropriate. With luck, a controllable elemental will answer the summons to commune with the caster. The more preparation done, the more successful the caster will be. A well done ritual may reap surprising benefits; a badly done ritual could end in disaster.

Freezing Breath

A powerful spell that flings out, from the caster, a great wave of extreme cold air, stopping charging beasts in their tracks.

Material component- A focus and an energised crystal amulet (Major spell)

Stepping forward, pushing their focus before them and calling  out their vocals ending in  “FREEZING BREATH”  will cast a powerful blast of cold at all targets directly in front of the caster. Anyone in the arc of effect must stop moving completely and then they are free to move again. A spell for the brave mage to buy valuable seconds by halting a monster charge. Casting this spell will render the crystal inert and it will need to be recharged.

Burning hands

Surrounds the casters hands with great heat and turns them into terrible weapons.

Material component- Cold fire ash (Minor spell)

Rubbing the ash on the hands then gripping the recipient and with verbals ending in  “BURNING HANDS” over and over to deliver damage. Delivers one hit point of fire damage per 3 seconds of contact

Example of Epic spell rituals can be to summon the attention of a greater elemental to the summoners command.
