Opposing school - Alteration
Wizards mark
A spell that will engrave a short message on any natural surface that can only be read by the intended recipient.
Material component- A mark making implement (quill, chalk, a stick in soft mud, etc)(Minor spell)
Cast this spell by chanting and physically draw the mark on the surface of the target area. Tell a ref the message and who it is intended to be read by.
Magic missile
The caster can summon magical energy in the form of powerful bolts.
Material component- twig or stck. (Minor spell)
Breaking the stick then with a clap of the hands cast the spell using vocals ending in MAGIC MISSILE. Does 1 point of damage through any armour.
Poison Substance
Summoning magic into oils and turning the properties into a terrible pain inducing poison.
Material component- Liquid (must be drinkable-water,squash etc)(Major spell)
Chanting over the liquid the caster can create a magic poison.If the poison is drunk it will cause severe pain incapacitating the person until magically healed. Caster can change effects but cannot cause death (unless casting an epic spell). A ref will normally need to be notified that the liquid is poisoned.
Minor Shield of Invulnerability
Limited protection from the slings and arrows of hostile creatures. Protection from assault by normal weapons allowing blows to bounce off the caster.
Material component- white powder circle(minor spell)
Sprinkle the salt in a circle no more than a metre across around the caster and chant continuously for a slow count of 30, everyone inside the circle are immune to physical attack by normal weapons for the full duration of the spell or until the caster stops chanting.
Hold monster
A mesmerising spell that will hold lesser monstrous creatures at a distance from the caster. This spell works on all monstrous creatures, dependent upon the skill of the mage. The mage must concentrate on the monster and not perform any other actions whilst the spell is active otherwise the magic is broken and the monstrous creature being held will walk free. The mage may try to hold more than one monstrous creature at a time; they may or may not succeed depending on the type of monstrous creature and the mages efforts. The spell takes moments to cast and is performed with verbal and material components of the mages choice.
Material component- A focus (Wizards staff for example)(Major spell)
(In order for the spell to work you must make it clear to the monstrous creature who you are trying to hold via in character communication (verbal/body language/gestures/use of a material component etc) and holding the focus up high in both hands. The monstrous creature will react accordingly; the result depends on the effort made by the player, the circumstances of the encounter and the reaction of the crew
Summon familiar
Summons a friendly familiar who guards and sacrifices itself to protect the caster from harm.
Material component- An appropriate physrep of a familiar (I.e. a toy lizard, insect, amphibian, mammal etc)(Minor spell)
When cast it will summon a familiar which must remain on the casters person to be effective. The familiar will throw itself into harms way, it will take the first hit and then be destroyed by it‘s altruistic act. The first hit taken by the caster regardless of its damage will be negated, after this the spell must be cast again to summon the familiar back from the void.
Talk to the Demonic
Drawing upon the powers of the Infernal Pits, a minor Demonic creature may be summoned to answer three questions of the caster or complete one simple task.
With strong commands a mage can, with luck, command a single Demonic creature to answer truthfully three questions. The Demonic creature must answer truthfully but may leave out important details, if it can, or twist the words in riddle form. Like wise a task asked of a Demonic creature must be clearly stated for any loop holes may be exploited to the casters cost.
Material component- A fire with ritual(Major spell)
Setting up your Magic circle and wards around you focal element (I.e. open fire/etc) with time, chanting and concentration a mage can draw up the Demonic creature appropriate. With luck, a controllable Demon will answer the summons to commune with the caster. The more preparation done the more successful the caster will be. A well done ritual may reap surprising benefits as a badly done ritual could end in disaster.
Truth
Draw the truth from the lips of the unrepentant. The caster will know the next sentence uttered will be the words of truth.
Material component- white ribbon(Minor spell)
Wrapping the hands of the target with the ribbon, the caster speaks a quick spell ending in the words”Tell the Truth”. The recipient of the spell must speak the next sentence as an absolute truth or suffer agonising pain will wrap their body for a slow count of 10.
Examples of Epic spells could be summon/banish minor Demon.
