Low Magic

Opposing school - Illusion

Magic armour

All mages need a little extra protection on the battlefield and the magic’s absorb an amount of damage before the mage is wounded.(Minor spell)

Material component- runes or glyphs tied to the caster

Gives the recipient of the spell 3 extra hits (global) for approximately 10 minutes or until they are lost in combat.

Identify Magical essence

Pulls knowledge of any magical emanations, from the immediate area, to the attention of the caster

Material component- Focus(Minor spell)

A small chant ending in the words “I DETECT MAGIC”. A ref will tell you what you find out, more effort expended the more information gathered.

Open magical lock

Opens enchanted locks; some locks defy even the best rogues.

Material component- appropriate focus (e.g., keys or lock picks)(Major spell)

A small chant ending in the words “I OPEN THIS MAGICAL LOCK”. A ref will tell you what you find out, more effort expended the more information gathered.

Resist Magic

Resist the effects of hostile spells cast at the mage

Material component- Focus(Major spell)

Brandishing their Focus aloft with a flourish and confidence, a mage may resist one spell cast at them. Vocals must end in“I RESIST THAT SPELL”

 

Purify water

Cleanses liquid of poisons and curses as well of filth and contaminants.

Material component- Focus(Minor spell)

Chanting over the liquid to be cleansed whilst walking a complete circle around it or a slow count of 30 (whichever is longer), this will purify the water of all poisons and disease of moderate strength.

 

Stun

A blow with a powerful punch, able to floor the most cantankerous warrior or stun a monster.

Material component- Magic Staff(Major spell)

Chanting over the wizards staff for a slow count of 10 the next blow struck by the item will strike with a stunning blow. On striking the target with the charmed weapon a call of “WITH THIS WEAPON I CAUSE YOU TO BE STUNNED” is shouted and is only for the first hit.  Recipients are instantly floored or, in the case of a mighty beast, will knock them back.

 

Camouflage

Summoning the wilderness and surroundings to the caster renders them camouflaged and unable to be seen by all denizens of the natural plane of existence. Effectively invisible to the naked eye and undetectable by the keenest of guards.

Material component- A Focus (Staff for example)(Minor spell)

Chanting quietly and repeatedly and holding you focus flat on the ground and crouching down the caster is undetectable for as long as they remain still and continue the chant. If chanting is stopped for any reason the spell ends and the caster is instantly visible once more.

 

Mind War

A battle of wills where a powerful blast strikes the opposing mages mind.

Material component- A Focus (Staff for example)Major spell)

A strong attack only effective against other magic users. Pointing the focus at the target and Shouting the vocals ending in “MIND WAR”, the recipient takes a single hit through any armour and magical defence. Can only be countered with magical resists.
